The Nike Indoor National Track Championships leads to broken school records and All American Honors!
The Edison Track Team would like to thank Cedric Walker and the Flower City Track Club for all of their efforts in aiding us in attending the Nike Indoor National Track Championships in Prince George, Maryland.
On the Boys side, The Sprint Medley Relay (Shamar Johnson, Quinton Harley, Joseph Hlywa, and Jonathan Santana) broke the school record with a time of 3:44.61. The 4x400m Relay (Jonathan Santana, Joseph Hlywa, Quinton Harley, Sean Steward) also broke the school record with a time of 3:29.08.
On the Girls' side, Sametra Kelly broke the school record in the 60m Dash with a time of 8.12. Brianna Cromartie of Aquinas became an All American in the 400m Dash, coming in 5th place at nationals with a time of 56.88, break the Section V record! (She initially broke the Section V record in the semi-finals with her time of 57.63). This is her second Section V record in two weeks (Cromartie set the Section V record in the 300m Dash at the New York State Championships with a time of 39.99).

Sametra Kelly is the 2008 State & Federation Triple Jump Champion!
Sametra Kelly broke her own School Record in the Triple Jump with a leap of 37-11.75, winning the New York State & Federation State Championships!

Edison Tech is headed to the State Meet and breaks more school records!
All of the following athletes will be headed to the State Meet at Cornell University on Saturday, May 8th!
On the Boys' Side, Earnest Waters returns from a hamstring injury to take first overall in the 55m Dash with a Section V Season Best time of 6.56. Waters' 6.56 was the fastest time in Section V this season, ranking him #1 in all of Section V. The 4x200m Relay (Shamar Johnson, Jonathan Santana, Quinton Harley, Alfredo Crossman-Chavez) took first overall with a time of 1:32.74 breaking the SCHOOL RECORD! Kaimon Leonard took 2nd place in both the Long Jump (21-01.25) & Triple Jump (44-10.5). Jonathan Santana took 3rd in the 600m Run in 1:27.27. The 4x400m relay (Sean Steward, Omar Nugent, Malcolm Lee, Joe Hlywa) missed making the state meet by one 100th of a second, coming in 2nd place to Fairport with a time of 3:36.16 (Fairport ran 3:36.15). We would like to thank our alternate relay runners Robert Sneed (4x200m relay) and Justin Chavez (4x400m relay) for their services in the semi-finals, helping their individual relay reach the finals.
On the Girls side, Sametra Kelly won the Triple Jump with jump of 37-7.75, breaking her own School Record. Kelly also came in 3rd in the 55m Dash with a time of 7.39. She will be attending the state meet for both events! We would like to commend Danielle King (eliminated in finals) & Toni Snead (eliminated in semi-finals) for their efforts in the 55m Dash! We look forward to a great outdoor season from both runners!

Edison Tech wins Boys' Class A Section V Indoor Track Title!
Edison Tech scored 72 team points to win their 10th Sectional Title since 2001. The 4x200m relay team took 1st with a time of 1:33.91! Shamar Johnson won the 55m dash with a time of 6.76 & Jonathan Santana won the 300m dash in 36.69. Santana also took 2nd in the 600m run with a time of 1:24.43 The 4x400 relay team took 2nd with a time of 3:37.16. Kaiman Leonard took 2nd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 45-11.50. Joseph Hlywa took 3rd in the 55m Hurdles with a time of 8.11.
On the girls side, while only suiting up 6 girls, Edison finished with an impressive 32 points, finishing in 5th place! Sametra Kelly doubled in the 55m dash in a time of 7.36 and the triple jump with a jump of 36-03.50. The girls 4x200m relay came in 2nd with a time of 1:51.66. Danielle King came in 4th in the 55m Dash with a time of 7.71.

Edison Tech wins the 4x200m relay, breaks a school record, & gears up for Sectionals!
On the Boys' side, Edison's 4x200m relay took 1st with a time of 1:33.79. Jonathan Santana took 2nd in the 300m dash with a time of 36.92. Sean Steward took 2nd in the 600m run with a time of 1:28.48 (PR). The 4x400m relay took 2nd with a time of 3:38.65. Kaiman Leonard took 3rd in the triple jump with a jump of 42-10.00. Joseph Hlwya was 4th in Triple Jump with a distance of 41-03.75 (PR), and Justin Chavez was 5th with a jump of 41-03.75 (PR).
On the Girls' side, Sametra Kelly broke the school record and took 1st in the triple jump with a jump of 36-09.75 (PR).

Edison's Sean Steward won the 600m run in a time of 1:30.67 (PR).

Edison Tech breaks MEET RECORD in the 4x400m relay & takes 1st in the 600m run!
On the Boys' side, Edison's 4x400m relay (Quinton Harley, Shamar Johnson, Joseph Hlywa, & Jonathan Santana) broke the RIT Tiger Invite MEET RECORD with a 1st place time of 3:36.26. Jonathan Santana won the 600m run with a time of 1:26.62. Shamar Johnson came in 3rd in the 55m Dash with a time of 6.82. Kaiman Leonard jumped a 43-04.25 in the triple jump, finishing in 4th.
On the Girls side, Sametra Kelly came in 2nd in the 55m Dash with a time of 7.49 (PR). She also came in 2nd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 36-02.50.

Edison Tech takes first in the 50m Hurdles 600m Run!
Edison's Joseph Hlywa won the 50m Hurdles with a time of 7.71. Edison took the top 3 places in the 600m run, with Jonathan Santana winning the event in a time of 1:32.66. Quinton Harley was in 2nd with a time of 1:33.79, followed by Joseph Hlywa in 3rd with a time of 1:35.17. Sean Steward took 3rd in the 1000m run with a time of 2:53.72.

Edison's Shamar Johnson won the 55m Dash in a time of 6.80. The 4x200m relay won in a time of 1:37.49. The 4x400m relay won in a time of 3:40.11. Edison's Sametra Kelly won the 55m Dash in a time of 7.46. Toni Snead came in 3rd with a time of 7.82.

Edison Tech takes numerous medals at Rochester Relays!
On the Girls' side, Edison won a gold medal in the 4x55m Shuttle Relay in a time of 29.51. The Girls finished in 19th place with 12 points. On the Boys side, Edison won gold medals in the 4x55m Shuttle Relay in a time of 26.66, the 4x200m relay in 1:35.63, the 4x200m Double Lap Relay in 3:33.97, and the 4x400m relay in 3:38.06. On the Boys' side, Senior Earnest Waters won the 55m Dash in a time of 6.73. Senior Kaimon Leonard won the high jump with a personal record of 6'2" (6 feet, 2 inches).

Edison Tech Boys win their 9th track sectional title in 6 years!
Edison Tech wins the Outdoor track sectional title, their 9th title since 2001. Senior Brandon Giles won the 400m Dash, the 200m Dash and was anchor to the winning 4x200m relay.
